Nicholas Lindsey - Reaction

Nicholas Lindsey, student at Gibbs High School in Florida, shot and killed Officer David Crawford February 22nd 2011. He was arrested the next day after endless hardworking hours of searching. Without his bulletproof vest, the officer's life could have been saved.

Lindsey was old enough to realize right from wrong and right. So it wasn't the parents, neither the officer's or even the community - it was the twisted mind of the killer that is a high schooler! He was young, yes, but it would have been different if he was 10. At 10, then possibly the parents could have prevented that much better.

To prevent the murder from occurring, Lindsey should have been able to have realized, before the shooting, that he would be arrested and locked up for possibly his entire life. The officer, however, shouldn't have underestimated such a young individual. If he was more self-conscious about his surroundings, as a police officer, he might have survived. But don't let that convince you that I think it was his fault.

Nine police officers are killed per year, in Florida. I think that it can be hard to accept when people are killed in their line of work. Police officers are, in a way, are like soldiers. They have a dangerous lifestyle and protect the people. It's no less shocking than the deaths of firefighters. But I believe that there can be more deaths than just nine. I mean: shootings, criminals, drugs. It's crazy how unpredictable the people they work with are. But they are the protectors of America. They're the building blocks, the warriors, the peacekeepers. Police officers are heroes for all of us.

  1. Its a shame that a kid his age was arrested and its a shame of what he did, and he will obviously pay the consequences for the crime.
